Privacy Policy

Thank you for using DriveVault. Your privacy is important. This Privacy Policy explains what information DriveVault handles and how that information is used.

Overview

DriveVault is designed as a local-first vehicle ownership tracking app. The information you create in the app is stored on your device. We do not operate a user account system for DriveVault, and we do not run our own analytics, advertising, or tracking systems inside the app.

Information You Add to the App

DriveVault lets you store vehicle information such as make, model, year, license plate, VIN, and vehicle images; fuel records including odometer readings, fuel quantity, price, and station names; expense records with categories and amounts; service history with center names, costs, and next-due dates; reminders for renewals and maintenance; vehicle documents such as insurance policies, registration certificates, and service invoices; vehicle events including accidents and repairs; and any notes or receipt images you choose to attach.

This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not receive, collect, or store that content on our servers.

Receipt and Document Images

DriveVault may store receipt images and document files (PDF or image) locally on your device as part of your records. These attachments are not uploaded to our servers.

Vehicle Images

If you add a photo of your vehicle, the image is stored locally on your device as part of your vehicle data. It is not transmitted to us.

Spotlight Search

DriveVault does not currently index vehicle data in Spotlight search. Any future implementation of Spotlight support will respect the privacy-sensitive nature of your data.

Widgets and App Group Storage

DriveVault offers Home Screen widget support. To power widgets, the app writes a limited local snapshot of relevant data — such as upcoming reminders, monthly spend, and fuel efficiency summaries — to Apple's shared app group container on your device so the widget extension can read it.

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Import and Export

DriveVault supports local import and export features including JSON backup and restore, and PDF and CSV report generation. When you use these features, files are created, opened, or shared through Apple-provided system interfaces and locations that you control.

You are responsible for how you store or share exported files outside the app.

Subscriptions and Purchases

DriveVault offers optional in-app purchases, including auto-renewable subscriptions and a lifetime purchase, to unlock Pro features. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit 2).

We do not receive your full payment information. We may rely on Apple-provided purchase status information made available through StoreKit so the app can determine whether Pro features are unlocked on your device.

Data Collection

We do not collect personal data from DriveVault users through our own servers as part of normal app usage.

Third-Party Services

DriveVault does not use third-party libraries or third-party advertising/analytics services for app functionality described in this policy.

The app does use Apple platform services and frameworks such as StoreKit 2, WidgetKit, SwiftData, Swift Charts, and document/file handling features provided by iOS.

Children's Privacy

DriveVault is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Data Security

Because DriveVault stores data locally on your device, your device security settings and your handling of backups or exported files are important. Keep your device protected and be careful when sharing exported data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page.
